White Coat Ceremony

Members of the P&S Class of 1998 received white lab coats and recited the Hippocratic oath in August as an official welcome to medical school. Most medical students take the Hippocratic oath at graduation, but Columbia seeks to instill in incoming students a sense of responsibility and professionalism for clinical excellence and compassionate care by asking them to pledge to uphold the oath's tenets as they begin medical studies. Family, friends, and faculty attended the ceremony, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
